Day 1 (Thursday i.e. April 16, 2015 at Siri Fort Auditorium)
The first day of the Seventh International Students’ Film Festival, First Frame 2015 witnessed the presence of some highly acclaimed personalities from the world of media and politics, like honourable Chief Guest, Shri Bimal Julka, Secretary, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Govt. of India, the Guest of Honour ,Mr. Kim Kum Pyoung, Director, Korean Cultural Centre, New Delhi, our Country Partner and many more. The festival at Siri Fort Auditorium, New Delhi started with the inaugural ceremony, where Shri. Bimal Julka declared the festival open. The theme for On-the-spot Mobile Film Making Competition was, ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’. The dignitaries shared their years of experience and their bond with the festival.
Out of 100 film entries received only 44 films have been selected to compete for the final level of the competition after clearing the preliminary round. Our esteemed panel of jury members consisted of Mr. Vijay Bedi (Green Oscar winner, acclaimed Wildlife Filmmaker & Photographer), Mr. Siddharth Diwan (Filmfare award winner, Cinematographer of ‘Lunchbox’ & ‘Queen’), Ms. Rajni Basumatary (‘Mary Kom’ fame, Actor & Director), Mr. Tarun Revoo (Director associated with films like ‘Highway’, ‘Rockstar’, ‘Love Aaj Kal’ etc.). The event started with the screening of enthralling films competing in the Best Film (International) category received from 6 countries – India, USA, UK, Australia, Sri Lanka and Poland. In the afternoon session of the festival, 9 films competing in the Ad film (National) category were screened. The films were based on seven themes- Education, Environment, Gender Equality, Health, Social Issues, Sports and Tourism.
An interactive workshop on Scriptwriting & Filmmaking by Mr. Tarun Revoo had kept the audience engaged and curious. Special screening of the Korean Film ‘Christmas in August’ thrilled the audience with joy. The whole event was streamed live on Youtube for our international audience.
Day 2 (Friday i.e. April 17, 2015)
The last day of the Seventh edition of First Frame held on 17th April marked the closing of a spectacular day. The day was marked with the screenings of 8 films competing for Best Documentary Film (National). A Special Screening of a Korean Culture video showcasing Korean Culture and K Pop.
It was succeeded by the screening of On the Spot Mobile Films based on the topic inspired by our Partner PeeBuddy, a part of the competition which had been announced on the first day. The sincere efforts of all the student filmmakers were visible. Thereafter Screening of 11 Films competing in Best Fiction Film (National) was held.
Padma Shri Prof. (Dr.) Pramod Kumar Julka, Dean, AIIMS (Academics) and Dr. Shweta Kumar, from Roche Products Pvt. Ltd. gave a Health Talk to sensitize the students about Cancer. In the last category of the festival-Best Film (School), we also received a foreign entry from USA.
Esteemed Media Expert, Rakesh Nagar delighted the crowd with his ‘Digital Gyan’ and his expertise in the Videography. In this interactive session goody bags by Sharp Stationary were distributed to all students who answered. It was an enlightening session which was enjoyed by all the students.
A Cultural performance by the students of MBICEM delighted the audience. The performance was followed by special 3D show by Directorate of Film Festivals (DFF) which captivated the audience in an enthralling presentation
The Valedictory Function took place in the evening organized to felicitate the awardees and to honor them with wishes from Prof. M. B. Julka, Festival Director & Director, MBICEM. It is said that all is well that ends well, the valedictory marked an end to the two day event of the film festival.
